Joanne Irving, Head of Market Access and Service Redesign, Star OUTiCO
My career started as an RGN, and I continue to work in the NHS in renal medicine. I’ve worked in the pharmaceutical industry full-time for 24 years across a variety of roles but mostly within Leadership and Market Access, and latterly heading up Key Account Management at Boehringer-Ingelheim. I have also worked for the Department of Health via MTRAC, working on Medicines Optimisation projects across a range of medicines, from generics to high-costs drugs across the lifecycle of a product – from Advanced Product Notification to managing Loss of Exclusivity.
Now at Star OUTiCO heading up Market Access and Service Redesign, our vision is to support the pharmaceutical industry and our NHS partners – helping them shape and deliver their strategy around their priorities.
Our approach is based on market research of NHS and pharmaceutical companies around what their expectations are of such a partner. They want a partner with experience and integrity, but most importantly, one whom they can trust.
So, why Star OUTiCO? It’s simple. We cover everything to support a Market Access strategy, and have the capability to manage the whole product lifecycle through the creation of high-performing teams in two main areas:
Focus on Market Access
Our Market Access approach at Star OUTiCO creates the niche, the need, and the demand to ensure access to medicines through pathway implementation. We do this through access, refinement, and building industry-leading in-call excellence around tangible value propositions.
We have access to stakeholders nationally across all 42 Integrated Care Systems, from Director to PCN, Health Boards in the devolved nations, and national leads for Long-Term Conditions and high-cost drugs/biosimilars.
Whether it is for the insights for propensity to utilise a medicines optimisation programme, buy into the GTM strategy, a commercial rebate scheme, or pre-launch intelligence, at Star OUTiCO we can deliver. We have the insights to drive brand strategy through data, but also through our accessibility to HCPs and robust NHS knowledge. Understanding the 2022/23 NHS plan and navigating these changes is a top priority of our team, particularly around how we translate these into value-based exchanges for our clients’ brands.
We build sophisticated solutions that support the NHS IT prescribing systems from EMIS, Vision and SystmOne. There is also a huge opportunity to partner with us, given our level of capability as an organisation with our Healthcare Solutions team. Experts in systems and value propositions, they enable us to create bespoke packages suited to needs around pathway implementation and population health management of a brand. Having this capability bridges the biggest challenges pharmaceutical companies face: the implementation of prescribing.
At Star OUTiCO, we understand the key challenges for pharma since the implementation of Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), alongside navigating the world of sales execution through a pandemic. Our Market Access teams have been built with this in mind, moving from disconnected channels and fragmented data to omni-channel, personalised and integrated value-based engagements that lead to actions.
Focus on Service-Redesign
Our Service Redesign approach at Star OUTiCO supports the NHS to deliver real change: improving quality, productivity, and value to patients and services. We work directly with the NHS to look at healthcare solutions as they navigate the changes, supporting them to deliver around health inequalities, transformation of services and pathway reconfiguration.
Sometimes it’s simply being the provider that can bring all the work together for them. With our highly experienced “Agile/Six Sigma” practitioner project management team, we do the heavy lifting for you.
Our pharma partners see this as one of the most valuable assets we have to offer. We know that within new integrated systems, population health management and pathway implementation is key. Our offering supports NHS priorities around delivering this in a safe and compliant way of working.
