Hi Ben, to kick off, just outline your career history to date.
I started my Recruitment career in 2017, initially focusing on temporary placements within the Trades & Maintenance/Facilities departments with the NHS. After a short period, I started focusing on mid-senior permanent placements within the Freight Forwarding sector, covering the US market. This is where most of my experience derives from after spending almost three years working this market.
What strengths do you feel you bring to the Star OUTiCO Recruitment team?
I have a broad and varied background within Recruitment, which has exposed me to roles of all levels and types within several sectors. For this reason, I’m versatile and flexible with whatever comes my way.
Part-time, full-time, mid-level, senior, temporary, contract or permanent, I’ll get stuck in! I like to pride myself on being a specialist recruiter who focuses on mid-senior level permanent placements, which is where most of my experience lies, but that’s not a well-rounded synopsis.
Give us your main piece of advice for candidates looking for a new job in the current environment.
The market is opening back up after the lockdowns but it’s still not what it was. Don’t be disheartened by this – if you’re looking and finding progress slow, keep pushing on!
Why did you want to join Star OUTiCO’s Recruitment team?
I wanted to join Star OUTiCO for several reasons. Before joining the team, I could tell that Star OUTiCO is a highly professional outfit who take their function within the Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices sectors seriously. This was clear from the conversations I had with team members and their online presence, specifically the company website and their LinkedIn profiles.
Both platforms are professional and the longevity within the teams is impressive. After a brief investigation it was clear that Star OUTiCO offer much more than Recruitment services, which intrigued me further. It’s only after joining that I’ve come to see how deeply embedded they are within their sectors and the NHS. Right from the start it was clear that the company’s values, and direction aligned very well with my own. On top of this, I find the pharmaceutical sector fascinating!
Finally, what do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I spend as much time as I can with my three beautiful children. I have a five-year-old son and twin girls who are three and a half – they keep me very busy!
